Red Flags

Normally, when I drive myself near the point of exhaustion, my body develops a sharp ache in one spot of my body. Previous manifestations have included my back, portions of my mouth, and my foot. It almost always passes in a day or two.

This time is a little different. I have dull pain system-wide: shoulder, both knees, neck. I had what felt like a pulled muscle for about one hour today – limited to just that hour. I have, during more than one evening in the last week, felt light headed.

I am going to attempt to slow things down a bit for the remainder of the week; being already behind on personal obligations, this makes me feel even worse. Hampering things further is the recent weird shorting out of my Sidekick 2, which I’m trying to resolve without having to flat out buy a new one. So if I owe you anything – money, source code, Pop’n 12 support on PNN, DVDs or other media I’ve borrowed and still neglected to return – bear with me just through this weekend. It’ll all happen soon, I promise.

The WWDC Question

Each year, I seem to only go to one training event: Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (also known as WWDC). You’ll notice that Apple hasn’t updated the site since the end of the conference last year, which means we’re now into March and we don’t know when the conference will be. (For comparison, last year WWDC’s date was announced on February 16th, or so my archives would indicate.)

So I’ve decided to do some detective work. Based on the last two years, we can assume the following:

– WWDC occurs with at least one day falling in June.
– WWDC occurs at Moscone West in San Francisco.
– WWDC runs five days, from a Monday to a Friday.

Apple has no information about WWDC 2006 yet, but luckily the [Moscone Center](http://www.moscone.com/) is not quite as secretive. While WWDC is not listed, there are three events [listed in June](http://www.moscone.com/site/do/event/list?nav.type=0&nav.filter=0604&nav.base=0602) that are scheduled to use Moscone West. If we mark these off on a calendar as conflicts (WWDC takes up the entire building), we get a calendar that looks like this:

Based on this calendar, I think we can safely rule out the last two weeks of June, and possibly the first full week (as the Saturday is often used for registration and setup). If I were to guess based on this calendar, I’d bank on it being June 12th-June 16th.

This would be (of course!) horrible for me, as it’s the last week of our semester at work and there will undoubtedly be an exam that needs monitoring. This would make WWDC three for three in terms of causing conflicts and difficulties. I just can’t win.

Comedy Explosination

It’s a three-for-all today.

One: Colbert Report taping, tonight. Guest looks to be not so important, but Stephen is the man.

Two: Channel 102 at 8:30. Hopefully Colbert won’t run long so that I have to miss new episodes of Running From Johnny Law, The Outer Limit, and Puppet Rapist.

Three: Aziz Ansari and Andy Blitz are the music clerks you love to hate in Human Giant’s Other Music. Featuring Julie Klausner and Brian Huskey too!
