We just got a copy of the newest Game Developer magazine in the office.
I flip open to page 4, and there’s an editorial entitled “Fixing A Leaky Valve”, about the Halflife 2 source getting stolen:
…that’s a pale shade of how I imagine the developers at Valve felt when they realized the Half-Life 2 source code had found its way into the wrong hands � many, many wrong hands.
And directly opposite this, is an ad for a 3-D Production Environment featuring quotes from Gabe Newell, including this gem:
On a project like Half-Life 2, you have to be very careful how you manage risk.
I think I’ve gotten my 100% serving of daily irony!
