Excellent Article On Bush’s Miltary “Record”

Flyboy Bush

David Neiwert has penned an excellent blog entry asking a lot of tough questions about President Bush’s military record:

But forget all these unanswered questions. Just from what we know now, the question that needs answering is this: Why did Mr. Bush abandon his commitment to his country during wartime? Why did he blow off his valuable training and remove himself from flight status?

Hurrah for Geodata!

Those of you who meticulously examine the source code of my page – all none of you – will note that now I have exciting metadata information for my ICBM data. What does this allow you to do?

Well, primarily, view my neighbors in “meatspace”. Not a ton of people in Ithaca with geodata, though.

Also, there’s this extremely cool app called The World As A Blog, which shows you entries from geourl’d blogs as soon as they hit weblogs.com.

It’s all too damn neat. Both of these links will reside in the “stupid blog tricks” section of the sidebar.

The Hokey Pokey by Shakespeare

Directly lifted from yesterday’s entry on William Gibson’s blog:

WASHINGTON POST STYLE has a contest in which readers submit instructions for doing various things, their choice, as written by famous authors. Jeff Brechlin of Potomac Falls recently won for the following, for wonderfully obvious reasons:
The Hokey Pokey (as written by W. Shakespeare)
O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heavens yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke — banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, ’tis what it’s all about.

Genius.
