Remember The Dating Game, the old Chuck Barris show full of innuendo and people behind a wall?
Well, thanks to some goofing around online today, I’ve come up with a thrilling new game that works very similarly. Pick one person to be the MC, and everyone else can take a round as contestant. Here’s how it works.
1) MC chooses a keyword out of their head. Try to pick words that tend to not have an incredibly large number of hot people associated with it.
2) Proceed to meetup.hotornot.com. Open three separate windows because you’re going to need to draw three “contestants”.
3) Search for the appropriate gender (or if you’re feeling cruel, mix it up), and with the keyword in question. Try to make sure one person looks reasonably good, and there’s one extremely ugly one. Also make sure that the profiles don’t hugely give away the keyword.
4) List each contestant. Give 5-6 keywords (NOT including the one you chose) from their listing and paste their profile.
5) Give them a minute or two to mull over their choices. The more audience participation there is, the better.
6) After they’ve picked, reveal the keyword. Reveal the two contestants they didn’t pick by pasting the “share this link” URL at the bottom of the page. Let them mull it over. Let the tension build.
7) Paste them their prize.
And voila, instant hilarity and disgust all in one. After revealing one girl:

This lead to much hilarity on IRC tonight, where Sl1p did okay and Boxthor got the girl giving it up for money at the prom. Reo didn’t really luck in or out, and the same for Turboneko. LateRiser got the girl with the bizarro face, HighwayStarX wasn’t having a good time, and Sazabit gave up under the strain of dork power.
