Rules of VJ Army

Final judgement over all decisions is held by Dan Dickinson.
In the event of a dispute, the decision is left to him and him alone, unless other designates are named. All attempts will be made to list the arbitration methods on the site as fully as humanly possible, but the right is reserved to change how the site is arbitrated at any time. In matters of potential system abuses or fake scores, he reserves the right to apply penalties to your account with or without warning.
You agree to not be mindless.
The management of VJ Army holds IIDX players to a somewhat higher standard than most sites in the Bemani community. We expect you to act at least somewhat mature and not try to:
  1. Break or compromise the database or VJ Army in any way.
  2. Cause drama or otherwise pick fights with other players.
  3. Act like the kind of person who thinks there's no other purpose in life than playing Beatmania IIDX. Obsessive-compulsive players are usually met with scorn and ridicule.
You agree not to enter scores from simulators, arcade versions, multiple players, or your imagination under penalty of removal from the site.
In an effort to maintain a level playing field across all players (within reason), we only accept scores from home versions of IIDX. Arcade timing has fluctuated greatly from version to version, in addition to the lack of a readily verifiable way to vouch for your scores. Simulators have completely loose timing and are not in any way considered an accurate reflection of IIDX playing ability. Fake scores are obviously disallowed for being imaginary. Scores you enter on your account must be your doing alone; you may not have a friend help you play doubles. Violating of these can result in the penalization or banning of the user in question.
You agree to defend your scores in a timely manner.
If you start posting AAA's and you aren't known in the community, you will be challenged. You will need to frequent the forums and defend yourself if need be. This means you check the forums somewhat regularly, you have access to a camera, and you can upload a photo or email it to me. Please use common sense when posting your scores; if you're routinely coming in the Top 10 for most songs and you are not a known player, you are likely to get challenged and this can lead to unrest. Please keep tabs on the forum if you fall into this boat.
You know enough about IIDX to not bother me directly about things.
Asking me how to unlock Original Course Mode, or songs, or why there's no L7 data listed for Junglist King...these are all questions that are either covered on the wiki or on our boards or other IIDX sites. Please read them and don't send Dan a private message or an IM as your first line of defense.
If there's something wrong with the site, and you're sure it's a server-side issue, you'll politely file a bug report.
The site is in fact an outcropping of a single-user version of all of this that Dan wrote in early 2003. There are errors in note counts and little other issues, compounded by the fact that the system remains in development. Polite inqueries are greatly appreciated.
You'll keep up with the news and join the community.
News posts appear on the forum with some regularity, concerning new features and upcoming IIDX news. Be sure to read them. Big news such as extended downtimes and the like will go on Dan's blog. Talk to people on the forums, join the IRC channel, be social. It's good for you.
If you like the site, say thanks.
The site is (still) being done out of the goodness of Dan's heart. If you enjoy it, either drop him a note and let me know what you like (and if there's anything you think that could be better), or buy something from the VJ Army Store. Positive feedback is greatly appreciated.
You understand that if your account is nuked for any reason, there is no appealing, no data recovery, and little to no chance of you getting back in good graces.
We're not looking for added drama in our lives. Removing an account is a last resort for people who obviously don't want to follow what are fairly benign rules. If you are nuked, we will let you know, and that's the end. Don't come back, don't try to get all sneaky with the re-registration - just realize you're done and walk away.
