VJ Army originally started in April of 2003 as just a database full of songs with a little room for me to put my ex scores. The back end and data entry was handled by phpMyAdmin; the front end looked remarkably similar to the user data page.

The next evolution was the addition of the session mode page, which made my score entering process considerably easier.

By this point, I had been asked by at least 10 players to install it for them as well, and as the entire thing was not coded to be portable between systems, I declined for many months, and then made a really shitty packaged version that no one installed.

In October of 2003, I registered vjarmy.com for my blog. There was never any intention of using it for a score site, although I did want to do something IIDX related.

In January of 2004, work began on porting the single user clunky version to a multiuser score site. The process took a little over a week and involved a lot of user feedback.

VJ Army 1.0 went live on January 26th, 2004.

The site had its registration closed due to database abuses on February 1st, 2004.

The site reopened with modified registration on February 19th, 2004.

VJ Army went 2.0 on July 16th, 2004.

VJ Army went 2.5 on its first anniversary, January 26th, 2005. Original courses were added.

The server that VJ Army is on was compromised the first week of February, 2005. No data was lost in the hack, although the system has had some feature gaps since then due to database translation and the like.
