Doe, a Deer!

So I've lived in Upstate New York for all my life, and been driving around it for the past 7 years, so eventually I expected to hit a deer, which I preceeded to do last night as I drove past NYSEG (I guess even deer turn to NYSEG for all their energy needs). I always knew that if I hit one with the old Grand Prix that the deer would end up getting it much worse than me, but to my surprise even with the Cavalier I had almost no damage at all. Granted I was going pretty slow at the time of impact, and it was only a small one (doe I'm guessing), but I still got her pretty well. Even after examining the car this morning in the light all I coule see was a dented liscense plate and some deer fur, and the car still drives fine. In a way it's almost disappointing. I hit a deer pretty much head on and have nothing to show for it. I guess that's a good thing though, I've already had enough problems destroying cars.

Oh and for all you all there that are worried about the deer herself, I'm assuming she's fine. After I hit her she rolled into the ditch and after I had pulled over and checked out my car she was already gone. So barring an alien abduction of the injured deer I'm assuming she skampered off safely.

Hero

So I've been waiting about a year for this one to finally come around, and it was worth the wait. Much like Crouching Tiger, the locations are beautifully choosen and shot, the fights are smoothly choreographed, and the overall acting quality seems great (based on my 2 weeks of Chinese I've had so far). Despite the low quality of many of his american releases I've always been a fan of Jet Li, and he doesn't disappoint here either. And of course how can you go wrong with Ziyi Zhang? Although she did only have a limited role, it was still good. The story is also rather solid (as opposed to other Chinese action films such as say Drunken Master, which is still good in its own right). So it was worth the wait, and worth the price.

Garden State

So after two viewings I think it's about time that I write up my thoughts on this movie. But since I'm at school, and lazy, I plan on keeping it rather short. As you may have guessed I enjoyed Garden State, because I generally don't see a movie that sucks more than once (if at all). I enjoyed the blend of emotional story with humour (and a good number of "what the fuck" moments, always good in my book). I don't feel like doing any researching or any more writing though, so I'll just leave you with my rating.

RATING: Worth Full Price Admission, Worth a Purchase.
